Susan Tindall will be conducting a masterclass using the students of our own Forum members. Susan will also share about the medical journey she has been on for many years and how she has learned to continue teaching through these difficulties.
Susan Rogalla Tindall (MM, SCTM, NCTM), a member of MTNA and MMTA since 1987, was considered the “backbone” of the Greater Muskegon Music Teachers Association. (GMMTA) She held the office of GMMTA president for many years before this local association was “retired” in 2021. She was recognized by the GMMTA membership as a MMTA “Teacher of the Year” in 2019. Despite a forty-three-year health challenge with rheumatoid arthritis, Susan continues to teach online and in her studio. In April of 2022 she performed in the “Members Recital” sponsored by the American Guild of Organists Muskegon-Lakeshore Chapter. Susan’s students are active performance participants in MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festival, NFMC Junior Festival, and MMTA Student Achievement Tests. Susan has been a frequent performance adjudicator for many student performances which include MMTA Student Achievement Test and the NFMC Junior Festival. She organized much of the eighty-eight-year history of GMMTA which is held in the archives of the Muskegon Lakeshore Museum Center. Susan received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance and music education from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Teaching Music from Calvin University. State and nationally certified since 1994, she served as the Local Chairperson for the 2000 MMTA Fall Convention held in Muskegon. She is currently a member of the Holland Piano Teachers Forum.
